Protect Our Public Lands

Hey Tall Girl!

I hope you have been out enjoying nature and finding peace in your surroundings. Last week I spent time at OR, in Salt Lake City. I made some really great connections and have some solid work to do to get ready for next season.

It was really interesting being at OR again (Outdoor Retailer) It used to be the premier location for making business connections, learning about the outdoor industry and keeping up-to-date with all the amazing happenings. This is the first year I have been to a summer show, as I usually go to the Snow Show, but it has been cancelled... I know there are some not-so behind-the-scenes protests/boycotts because the organizers decided to move from Denver to Salt Lake City. While I was aware of what was going on, I didn't realize the extent... Utah Senator Mike Lee and his cronies have been working with some government folks to be able to sell off public lands, predominantly for mining... pretty sure we are all aware of how detrimental to the environment and public health mining is.

This last week, there has been a big push to call your government representatives in DC (local and DC lines) to let them know that our public lands are not for sale. I'm sure many of you live near or appreciate recreating near some of the lands that are for sale. I know that where I live is surrounded by BLM land that would be put for sale and wow, what a catastrophe that would be. I live in an area where hunting, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, etc... all coexist and everyone in the area, and that visit would be devastated if the land was sold for mining... below is a website that will help you get info and call your senators to let them know your thoughts. Please call, be vocal, thank them for saying no, or let them know that part of what makes the United States of America wonderful is that we have shared lands that we can all enjoy in different ways. Tourism, recreation, meditation, and history.

Have a great week, and let's see what how far we can go when we speak together for good!
