My Favorite Large Size Footwear

Hey Tall Girl,

Alright, let’s talk about shoes for big feet. Because if you’re a tall woman wearing a size 10, 11, 12, 13 or whatever, you already know—it’s rough out there. Cute options? Rare. Ones that don’t look like orthopedic clown shoes? Even rarer. Not pinching your toes or sloppy like your dad's shoes!? Hardly

So here are a few brands I’ve found (or have been stalking online) that are actually crushing it or trying:

Otto & Ivy
Okay, I haven’t worn these yet—but I’m OBSESSED. They make stylish shoes specifically in women’s sizes 9 and up. Like actual fashion, not just stretched-out versions of smaller shoes. The fuchsia Annie Court?? I drool over it regularly. And the metallic boots? I want them all. I love that they’re not pretending my feet are a problem—they’re just designing for them. I reached out and the owner will do online consult to help with sizing, so that is on my list for this summer!

Lems Shoes
If you’ve ever tried to find size 12 hiking shoes/boots that don’t look like you borrowed them from your dad, try Lems. They make women's and men’s shoes, but the men's colors and styles are surprisingly wearable—and sometimes even cute. I have a (few) pair and they’re super comfy, kind of skater looking, and I actually get compliments on them. The boots are so great, that my daughter stole them... now I need to get a new pair! I love to put some funky color shoe lace in them, but realistically, the colors aren't as offensive as other brands. Not bad for something that fits my feet and doesn’t destroy them.

Duckfeet
These are kinda funky, kind of earthy, and definitely cozy. The boots have wool lining and they’re just solid boots, I love to throw them on with leggings or a skirt on (shhh, but I actually have a couple pair. I had to do normal size, even though they recommend sizing up). Not trendy, but they feel like the kind of thing you keep forever, use some leather conditioner, and they'll last a lifetime. I also have a pair of slides LOVE THEM! I throw them on for errands and school drop-off when it's not dumping snow. Finally, their sandals. just cute and simple. I wear my normal size, and I love that the straps are adjustable, kind of like Chacos. Highly recommend!

Altra
If you run, or just walk a lot and want something super comfortable, Altra’s worth checking out. They go up to size 12 and have a nice roomy toe box, so you’re not getting that crushed toe feeling. I love a barefoot style shoe, and I keep coming back to these.

So yeah—if you’re out here with long feet and tired of pretending your shoes fit when they don’t, these are a few brands that don’t totally suck. Progress.

Cheerfully,

Suzi!
